Beginning this May, I began an ongoing internship with First Tennessee Bank's corporate communications department. The internship comes complete with a swanky 12th floor view of AutoZone Park, which happens to be the location of my fun summer job. How convenient to walk from one job to the next! That of course hasn't been the highlight of my internship though.
Over the course of summer, I worked with five other interns with the small, six-member full-time corporate communications team. With such a small team, we really got a chance to fully see what all the department is responsible for and how it all works. The bulk of our time was focused on the department's research and planning efforts for the company's upcoming 150th anniversary celebration. It's been quite interesting to discover so much of the company's history and how they became the number one bank in the state.
Of course, it hasn't been all work and no play. We experienced our fair share of group lunches and random moments of fun. In fact, for our final intern project presentation, the group decided that each of us would be represented by a character from the TV show "The Office." Ha! I was Kelly Kapoor. The greatest part of it all is I took the picture for the character without even realizing that's what the picture was for or that I was portraying her. Our presentation ended up being not only informative, but it solicited some laughs as well.
Currently, two of us are continuing our internships through the fall semester. We've been joined by another awesome intern who came over from the marketing department.
In my next post, I'll share about the added experience of attending engaging events with the company's other departmental interns!
