In my last post, I shared with you the general rundown on what my summer internship with First Tennessee entailed. As a reminder, I worked with the corporate communications team along with five other interns. Due to First Tennessee’s well-developed internship program, I also was connected with about 15 additional interns who worked in various other departments throughout the company. We had biweekly intern board meetings where human resources officers covered topics such as resume building and networking. We also got to converge in the executive board room on the top floor. During these meetings, we had special life talks with senior leaders of the company.
As an added bonus, we communication interns also had the opportunity to sit in on some of the weekly anniversary planning meetings with leaders from communications, marketing and corporate properties. I’d say that may be one of the most beneficial parts of the internship- getting to experience the organization at some of its highest levels.
As of Oct. 7, I am no longer with First Tennessee. I have begun a new phase of my career development and am now working with Caissa Public Strategies as an intern with Jack Sammons, chairman of the Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority and so many other organizations that play a role in our local economy. Google him!
I am absolutely thrilled and see this as THE most prime opportunity to really connect with what drives this city. Can’t wait to share more with you all as things get going around here!
