On January 20, 2014, the National Civil Rights Museum hosted its annual King Day. Being a part of the Marketing and Communications internship program, I was able to work behind the scenes of production for the social media tent. Inside of the tent we gave out buttons and stickers with the hashtag #KingDay2014, conducted trivia and gave away prizes, and showed previews of the newly renovated Lorraine Motel exhibits. There was food, games for the children, and live entertainment from bands and other performers. I really enjoyed working and meeting the presidents of different organizations and vendors that were there from Lifeblood to the Mid-South Food Bank. Not to mention, the weather was great for a wintery day in January. We were also able to make #KingDay2014 a trending topic on Twitter and Facebook. I am really looking forward to #KingDay2015.
