As my internship with Champ'Sol slowly comes to an end, I can easily reflect back at all of the work I have contributed to the company. I have become more knowledgeable and prepared for the future because of being an apprentice. I now pride myself on learning as much as I can in order to be prepared for future careers.
Throughout my internship I have basically done it all. From blog posts to recently airing on the company’s YouTube channel; I think it is imperative to get the full experience from an internship. Regardless if it is paid or non- paid, there is nothing wrong with being prepared for a career especially if it is something you see yourself doing in the future. Starting from the bottom and working your way to the top is true success and can only be done if you take it all on, that means if you have to start by being the girl who sends out mass emails (me) to working your way to being invited to athletic camps, that’s okay.
I have come to realize that the world of PR is very competitive and the world of an apprentice is just as competitive, if not more, because you have to constantly prove yourself and have to always be on your toes if you want to be recognized and stand out. While I have been interning with Champ’Sol, I have received many opportunities, opportunities that I would have never experienced if I wasn’t working with the company. I’ve networked with people all over the US that can help me in my journey in becoming a publicist.
I recommend having an internship to anyone before pursuing a career. Because it is more than just an additional slot on your resume, but it gives you connections and you’re able to say you have that much more experience than your competitor at your next interview!
