My internship with Make-A-Wish is getting closer to the end. My expected end date is in the beginning of December. We have been very busy at the office and I have began working on design items (programs, marketing products, posters, etc.) for Season of Wishes which is Make-A-Wish’s biggest campaign for this quarter of the year. I have also been working on items for Farm Fresh Wishes, which is a huge fundraiser/auction in Arkansas. In between all of this work, I have been updating and sending out newsletters and the Wish Dish to volunteers, Wish kids, and their families. I enjoy working at Make-A-Wish and being exposed to what it is like working for a non-profit organization. Working at one of these offices requires a lot of dedication, passion, and hard work. Although it is very rewarding, I do not believe that this is the route I want to take in my career path. However, I am learning so much about public relations, design, and professionalism.
My six-week campaign with Macy’s has also come to an end. As a brand ambassador for Macy’s, I promoted their brands, deals, and marketing strategies to students at the University of Memphis and those who follow me on social media sites. We were required to do a clothing drive, a red star scavenger hunt, and a catwalk/flash photo shoot where participants had the chance to win gift cards ranging from $10-$25. We were given marketing tools and resources such as t-shirts, clings, and fliers to help assist us with our tactics. Although this campaign was short, it was very exciting and taught me a lot about marketing strategies and brand knowledge.
